These full-day workshops will be packed with hands-on activities and minds-on discussions that will provide you with loads of ready-to-use lessons that will help support Unit A: Scientific Investigation Skills and Career Exploration in grade 11 and 12 physics. It will explore such things as getting students to ask questions like scientists and to compare competing models. You will see how you can show them and why physics is important for students interested in medicine, law and business!
The workshop will focus on physics examples, but the resources contain lessons that are perfect for the grade 9 and 10 science courses and the grade 10 careers course. Each teacher will receive extra copies of each resource so they can share these with the non-physics teachers in their school.
Each participating teacher will be provided with supply coverage for the day and lunch. Spaces are limited, so contact the presenter to sign up today!

Lisa Lim-Cole has been teaching physics since September 2000 at Uxbridge Secondary School (Durham District School Board) and is currently the Science Department Head. She obtained her physics degree from McGill University and completed her Bachelor of Education degree at Queen’s University. Lisa is an Associate Teacher with The Perimeter Institute’s Teacher Network, which works to provide workshops for physics teachers. She has recently worked as a facilitator for the EinsteinPlus Conference for physics teachers at The Perimeter Institute and is continuing to help support physics teachers by providing subject based PD in Durham. Lisa has provided PD opportunities for science teachers in a variety of topics including the “The Mystery of Dark Matter”, “Planck’s Constant Lab”, “Challenge of Quantum Reality”, “GPS and Relativity”, “Use of Technology in Science”, “Using Art and Drama in Science”, and “Science and Math Connections” to name a few. As the new school year starts, Lisa looks forward to working with other passionate teachers to develop and deliver engaging subject-based PD for science teachers.
We hope to have a profile for Jane soon.
